THE CROSSROADS OF DESTINY
The Story of An Siyu.

Busy busy busy. That was the life of An Siyu studying to become a detective. So many things he has to read and memorise. And so many chores he had to do at home. However, he was coping just fine as long as he follow out the schedule he planned out. But then, his mind would sometimes worry over his so-called brother, Junji. After all, just recently he had his heart broken due to the death of his lover.

An Siyu knew better. Junji was old enough now. He didn’t have to spoil him further. He was partially the reason why Junji turned out to be what he is now after all. If his sulking goes too far, only then would he step in. Maybe even a bribe with a pillow or two seeing how Junji is obsessive with pillows. His room is literally a pillow fort now. Half a year passed, An Siyu noticed that Junji got over it for good. Junji even got himself a job. As long as he’s back on his feet, An Siyu was fine with it.

A year passed. An Siyu went out to dinner with Junji one weekend night where a crime happened to take place nearby while they were eating. On the way back and finding out about the crime, interested, An Siyu went to observe. Detectives came to discuss on site with some witnesses and An Siyu overheard how the whole incident went. He laughed. Thinking he was some psycho, two policemen got hold of him. But he was calm as he knew he did no wrong. Junji tried to reason with the policeman.

Turing towards the detectives, An Siyu spoke. “Pitiful, pitiful detectives… By chance I overheard your discussion, but I can’t help but laugh at how wrong you all were with your deductions.”

One detective got angry with him and walked closer as if trying to hit him. But another detective stopped him.

An Siyu smirked. “At least… One of you almost got it right. You detectives are missing a vital picture that’s right in front of you.”

An Siyu pointed at one of the witnesses and stated that they were involved with the crime. He started explaining, and the witness became nervous. Before An Siyu finish his explanation, that one witness fled. The policemen that were holding onto An Siyu earlier was now chasing after the witness. One of the detectives present was quite impressed with An Siyu, so he approached him and invited him for a drink and for a talk or two. Junji was invited too and with nothing else to do, he followed.

They first started introductions and such. The detective’s name was Katsura. Katsura was told of An Siyu’s ambition. Then they continued on talking about how An Siyu knew about the crime earlier, so he explained properly. They had a good talk. Impressed with An Siyu, Katsura decided to make him some sort of apprentice. Of course, An Siyu accepted it without thinking twice.

Since then, An Siyu was able to help with crimes. But since he still hasn’t graduated, hadn’t gone through training, and wasn’t an official worker, he was only able to take up minor cases as well as do some computing researches and give out opinions. Most people in the police force could already see that he was a good partner in making for Katsura that was dubbed a detective who hates having partners. The chief even acknowledge An Siyu’s talents. It was safe to say that his future is bright.

Two years passed, An Siyu was now basically a part timer. He was busier than ever. On one Sunday morning when he returned home from spending the night at Katsura’s office doing research, he saw a pair of shoes he’s never seen. It was neither his nor Junji’s size. Heaving a sigh, he knew what he was walking home into.

“Oi Junji! Did you bring a guy home again?”

Junji poked his head out of his room, draped in only a blanket. “Correction. I brought two.” As he said that, a guy walked out from behind Junji holding a pair of shoes and immediately left after.

“Two?”

“Y-Yeah… The other guy is currently in the showers. Then again, he should be done by now.”

An Siyu stared at Junji a little wide eyed. “Did you try out… With them…? Nonononono wait! I don’t even want to know. I’ll just leave your kinks and fetishes to yourself you satyromaniac.” As he said that, he went to sit on the sofa with a sigh.

Junji walked over to sit next to him and turned to him with a smile. “You should get yourself a girl or a cute guy.”

“I’ve no time for that anymore. I’ll get one when my life is more stable and secured my job full time.”

“You’re no fun.”

At the time, the other guy was about to leave. Junji waved at him. An Siyu sighed and stood up. “You go take a shower first, I’ll make you your breakfast.” He said while walking to the kitchen. “The usual?”

“Yes. Thanks!” Junji then headed off to take a shower.

After showering, Junji approached An Siyu who was setting up the table for him. “Looks good.” He looked over at the food hungrily.  “Ah right! You know… About the current case you and Katsura are working on?”

“Yeah what about it? We still haven’t made any progress on it. Something isn’t right.”

Junji smiled. “I may have some new information on that.”

“Do you now? And how did you get such information?”

“Ah… About that… I got some information from the two guys that just left. The topic just came up while we were having sex last night. So while they were asleep, I wrote all the information I heard down. Here you go~” He handed An Siyu a piece of paper.

“You…” An Siyu sighed. “That’s a really odd topic to talk about while doing it. But whatever.” He then took the paper and skimmed through it. “Junji this…. THIS IS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED! I have to inform detective Katsura as soon as possible. Thank you!”

Immediately, An Siyu phoned Katsura. And with the information he got from Junji, the case was finally solved.

A few months passed then. An Siyu was one day called out by the police chief. He was told that once An Siyu properly graduate and got his degree as well as gone through proper police training, he could straight away become a fulltime detective and assigned as Katsura’s permanent partner until stated so otherwise. It was all good news for An Siyu. He was very overjoyed.

And that was An Siyu’s first turning point in the crossroads.
